Yes and No,
currently there are three (soon to be only two):
Amsoil (regular) 75w-90 Gear Lube
Amsoil Series 2000 75w-90 Gear Lube (being replaced)
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ 75w-90 Gear Lube (which will replace the Series 2000)
__________________________________________________
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic Extreme Pressure Gear Lube is the latest introduction from Amsoil (and replaces the Amsoil Series 2000 Gear Lube) offering a higher level of performance vs. Amsoil's regular gear lube.
Amsoil Series 2000 Gear Lube, and now AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic Extreme Pressure Gear Lube, started with a different base stock than the regular 75w-90 Gear Lube ... both with a special additives package. The "NEW" AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic Extreme Pressure Gear Lube is an improvement over the Amsoil Series 2000 Gear Lube in order to optimize it for modern applications.
For the record:
Amsoil could have discontinued the regular gear lube but contine to carry it due to its popularity. However, I have Freightliner customers driving Class 8 Tractor Trailor Trucks using the "regular" 75w-90 synthetic gear lube in their difs. Tuff enough for them ... Tuff enough for me.

While we are on the topic:
Regular 75w-90 or AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ 75w-90 or 75w-140?
A lot of people also ask ... which 75w-90 or should I use 75w-140? Personally, I would recommend to most people that they use the regular synthetic 75w-90 since our regular synthetic 75w-90 performs above and beyond the recommended petroleum (crude or dino) 75w-90. You will also get better MPG using 75w-90 than using the 75w-140 which should be considered only if you experience the following conditions: a lot of towing, hauling, steep hill driving, commercial use, racing, off-road use, rapid acceleration, stop and go driving and high ambient temperatures.
Now ... If you think your gears need additional protection ... rather than use the 75w-140 Gear lube, I would recommend the AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic Extreme Pressure 75w-90 Gear Lube (which I detail below).

AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic Extreme Pressure Gear Lube
________ ________
AMSOIL INC. of Superior, WI has updated its gear lube formulations in order to optimize its gear lubes for modern applications. SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic Extreme Pressure Gear Lubes, available in 75W-90 and 75W-140 viscosities, are ideally suited for vehicles that experience towing, hauling, steep hill driving, commercial use, racing, off-road use, rapid acceleration, stop and go driving and high ambient temperatures.
Modern vehicles are designed with more horsepower and torque than in years past, allowing them to haul and tow heavier loads. The result is higher gear loading and hotter running differentials. In addition, factors such as increased interior space and lower floor boards push axles higher into the vehicle's body, reducing air flow and increasing heat. The closer proximity of the axles to the exhaust system also effectively raises temps, while more aerodynamic body styles and air dams restrict air flow to the differentials.
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic EP Gear Lubes deliver unbeatable power-enhancing protection, thermal stability and fuel economy in both heavy-duty and severe service operations. AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ has the film strength required to deliver all the protection high stress applications need in a fuel-saving viscosity grade at a competitive price. Recommended for use in all passenger vehicles, light trucks, SUVs, commercial trucks and race vehicles.

FYI, Gear Lube Information:
High quality gear oils must lubricate, cool and protect geared systems. They must also carry damaging wear debris away from contact zones and muffle the sound of gear operation. Commonly used in differential gears and standard transmission applications in commercial and passenger vehicles, as well as a variety of industrial machinery, gear oils must offer extreme temperature and pressure protection in order to prevent wear, pitting, spalling, scoring, scuffing and other types of damage that result in equipment failure and downtime. Protection against oxidation, thermal degradation, rust, copper corrosion and foaming is also important.

Winter Driving and the Benefits of Synthetics
Synthetics provide the long-lasting protection, fuel efficiency and dependability needed for top performance, even extreme-pressure conditions. Stays fluid in cold temperatures for easy cold-weather shifting.

My recommendation regarding suction pumps ... DO NOT USE ONE ... remove the cover and do a physical (eyeball) inspection.

Quad Rider,
There is no need to think that the Amsoil Gear Lube that you used needs to be replaced. Simply consider AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic Extreme Pressure Gear Lube the next time or for your other vehicles when it is their time for service.
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic Extreme Pressure Gear Lube is Amsoil's "ugraded" Amsoil Series 2000 Gear Lube ... formulated in order to optimize it for modern applications.
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP) 75W-90 Lubricant
Formulated for the severe operating conditions of today's pick-up trucks, SUVs, heavy equipment and other hard working vehicles.
AMSOIL Severe Gear Synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP) Lubricants are premium grade lubricants specifically engineered for maximum performance in severe duty applications.
AMSOIL formulations feature an exclusive blend of high viscosity, shear stable synthetic base oils and an extra treatment of high-performance additives. AMSOIL Severe Gear Synthetic EP Lubricants maintain their viscosity for long-lasting protection against metal-to-metal contact.
The proprietary AMSOIL additives form an iron-sulfide barrier coating on gear surfaces, providing the ultimate line of defense against wear, pitting and scoring.
AMSOIL Severe Gear lubricants prevent "thermal runaway" - a phenomenon caused by a lubricant's inability to control friction and increased heat under high-stress conditions. By preventing thermal runaway, AMSOIL Severe Gear Synthetic EP Lubricants inhibit rapid lubricant degradation and component damage.
Equipment runs better and lasts longer with AMSOIL Severe Gear Synthetic EP Lubricants.

AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic EP Gear Lube
Product Code: SVG
Performance
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ provides performance beyond that possible with conventional gear oil. AMSOIL products offer superior gear and bearing protection, better friction and heat reduction, increased efficiency and extended service life.
Temperature Extremes
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ EP lubricants excel in hot and cold temperature extremes. By design, they resist breakdown from high heat, preventing acids and carbon/varnish formation. Their waxfree construction also improves cold flow properties, improving fuel economy and cold weather shifting.

In another thread, I was asked the following question:

Dusty,
First let me address the unasked question ..... 75w-90 or 75w-140 ? Personally, I would use the synthetic 75w-90 since synthetic 75w-90 will perform above and beyond the recommended petroleum 75w-90. I have Freightliner customers driving Class 8 Tractor Trailor Trucks using 75w-90 synthetic gear lube in their differentials. Tuff enough for them ... Tuff enough for me. A higher viscosity gear lube will only rob you of fuel effiency (MPG) --- unless a 75w-140 is recommended my the manufacturer.
