Subject: Ventvisors install? ? ? IP: Logged
Message: I just got a set of Ventvisors for my Dakota off of Ebay. What junk! The instruction diagram show that they should be installed on the inside of the window channel. The window channel consist of two felt window homes. No way am I inserting a chunk of plastic there to rub the top of my windows whenever they are rolled up.

Message: Are they AutoVentshade brand?
I have those (the original vent visor), high quality, rounded edges, clean 3M tape to install.

Message: The ventvisors for the Dakotas mount on the outside of the door frame. I also have a Nissan Sentra that had ventvisors that mount on the inside of the window, so you may have recieved the wrong model. Double check that before installing.

Message: I had the stick-on Vent Visors on my 98 rc and took them off for an auto show and broke one of them. I replaced them with the inside channel set. As far as I'm concerned they are much better looking and they have been on for over a year and have had no effect whatsoever on my windows.

This are the original ones...the install baffles me...the window consists of two sides of felt padding...not sure what it is supposed to adhere to.

Message: They stick to the outside of the door. They don't go in between the felt strips. That's where the window goes. The ventvisors just stick to the paint essentially.

Message: DakHunter and everyone else telling him they "stick on". There are TWO different types of ventvisors you can buy. "In channel" and the "stick-on" type. So the ones saying that he has it wrong are using the stick on type, he does NOT have that type apparently.
I've never used the in-channel kind so I can't offer much assistance there, but wanted to point out the difference so that people stop steering him wrong..

Message: I know there are two types...I asked what brand because the AutoVentshade's are stick on.
Think about it this way, glass is much harder than plastic, so the visors will take up whatever minimal wear there will be. There is no ill effect to the in channel visors.
I also agree that most in channel types look better.

Message: Something is fishy here...check out this above link I posted. These shades are listed as channe-shades yet they come with adhesive 3M tape on the shades. What a pain in the ass.

Message: Damm people
The Autoventshade brand In channel visors use tape to stick them to the felt inside.
I got a set from ebay also but they wont fit properly (they hit the mirror and window gets stuck on them)
Autoventshades tech line never returned my call...

Message: When I was looking for ventvisors I ran across the autoventshades with the channel install but then there was another company that made the channel type, weathertech. They were only a couple dollars more and a much better warranty. Plus they are made in germany so the workmanship and quality of materials is there. No problems yet, haven't taken them out for the winter either and no breakage so far. I've had them installed for 2 years now. Tried the tape on ones before and after a year they were peeling off in the corners.

Message: I just installed the in channel vent visor on my 2004 QC. I just put them where they belonged without sticking them to the felt, to see how they worked. I don't like them at all. I noticed I get wind noise coming from the windows now.I do not recommend them.
