Subject: Bilstein shocks IP: Logged
Message: I am looking at purchasing 4 bilstein shocks for my 01, CC, 2wd, 4.7 Dakota. I put a pair of Gabriels on last year and the fronts are already junk.
I spoke to a few part stores and I am getting different answers on the Bilstein's warrantee. Some say a year some say 3 months. I find this a little hard to believe for a shock that cost this much. Has any one worn out their Bilstein's? What is the real warrantee?

Message: Taken from the Bilstein website:
"Krupp Bilstein of America warrants its gas pressure shock absorbers against defects in workmanship and materials for as long as you, the original purchaser. own your car.
If at any time after purchase or installation, the shock malfunctions and Bilstein determines it to be defective, we will either replace it or repair it.
There are only a few specific exceptions to this warranty. They include:
original equipment shock absorbers - which are warrantied by the original equipment manufacturer.
improper installation,
racing, driving competition or off-road use,
use on modified or other than Bilstein-recommended vehicles.
Bilstein's liability for a defective shock absorber is limited to replacement of shock with a new or reconditioned Bilstein shock absorber. Rubber mounting hardware and labor charges are not covered by the warranty. "
I've had mine for over two years, no problems and they are great. Hope this helps.

Message: blk4.7,
If you're interested I have two front bilstein shocks P/N BE5-6460-HO. They were used for about 2000 miles. The reason I took them off already is my truck is lowered and I had to change to the hotchkis/bilstein ones. I would like 100.00 plus shipping. If you don't like them I will buy them back from you. My email is jlovett12@yahoo.com

Message: Thanks for info....
I am not sure why these parts stores are only saying the warrantee is one year. One of the stores, AutoZone, has the warranty listed on their web site as 1yr. and 3 months for another bilstein shock. I did see Bilstein's web site. I am leaning on buying the shocks from Autozone because they will credit the crappy Gabriels I bought last year.
If I don't have to return the shocks to Autozone for warranty problems I guess I shouldn't worry about it. I am not expecting any problems anyway.
9rt9,
Thanks for the offer but, for $20 bucks more I can get new shocks.
