Subject: Torsion Bars...Yeah I know, do a search! IP: Logged
Message: Really though. I know there is a thousand threads on here about this, but I want a definitive list of experiences from those who have done it. Let's start with what I have heard that is most likely true:
1. It will stiffen up the ride.
2. You probably will need an alignment.
3. It may wear front suspension parts faster.
Ok, so what I want to know is this...
Those of you who have done this, have you had to get an alignment, if you didn't are your tires wearing evenly? Have you had any problems with ball joints due to this mod, not the usual problems? I have had no problems at all with my Ball Joints and I have 60K on my truck. So I don't want to do this and then all of the sudden need to replace them. Thanks to everyone who responds, and maybe this will be the last time that anyone has to ask this question!!

Message: Had to get an alignment ? I got one because I knew it was the right thing to do after changing my front end geometry this way. Ride is a bit stiffer. Still on the original ball joints, no problems.

Message: Thanks Kowalski. How long have you been going on the cranked torsion bars with no ball joint problems?

Message: Did mine at least 2 years ago. Got an alignment because I just bought new tires 265/75/16 and didn't want to chance it. The ride, no change from what I could feel. Ball Joints are fine. It's the damn rotors the get me. Just put on my fourth set on my 2000 QC 4x4 with 61,000 miles. This time went Raybestos Super Duty rotors and pads and adjusted my rear brakes. Go for the torsion bar adjustment.
