Subject: rebuilt transmition wont shift into over

I have a 89 dodge dakota with a rebuilt transmition and it wont shift to overdrive. does anyone know what the problem can be?
i appreciate any input.

Could be lots of causes. Check O/D solenoid and electrical connection.

checked connection, don't know how to check solenoid,
rebuilt trans. should be new. could it be the transm. throttle linkage not adjusted right? shifts smooth, just no overdrive. put rebuilt on with new torque converter and put in 5qrts. of fluid and dip stick says full, test drove and around town, checked 20x and still full.

get it checked out, if its rebuilt it shouldn't be working like a pile of shat.

have a code scanner and it's saying vehicle speed sensor problem. speedometer and odometer work fine, is this something different?

I had a problem with the OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR in my 99 dakota. It looks like not much more than a plug that goes into the passenger side of the transmission. (This sensor is not to be confused with another sensor that is on the rear differential.)
