Message: because the TB on our Daks are so easy to remove, it only makes sense to take it off. I found that once the air hat is off, the three sensors unplugged and the one hose to the front of it was pulled and the throttle linkage was unclipped (cruise cable too if you got one), the four bolts came out like butter.
After I thoroughly cleaned mine, by removing the TPS, the AI sensor and the deally in the front I was able to make it sparkle. I was really carefule with the AIS and didnt force it in any way. A spray bomb of TB cleaner and it was just like new.
Putting it back was just the reverse. You might want to pick up a new manifold gasket though, they're cheap and worth the effort. With the sensors back on, it is done. I think it took me about 10 minutes to take it off, about a half an hour to clean and about 10 minutes to put back on. Never looked back...
Hope this helps you make your descision...
