Subject: cleaning throttle body? IP: Logged
Message: I want to clean my TB but do I have to depressurize the fuel system. I have read the other posts on cleaning the TB they dont mention it I get the impression that it isn't required. and am I correct to say that it does invovle removing the 3 sensors( TPS IAC MAP ) fuel lines and such? Have already cleaned IAC and replaced TPS so cleaning TB is next.
Thanks for your advice.

Message: You do not have to do any thing with the fuel lines or depressurize, there is no fuel at the tb. The fuel is in the fuel rail going to the injectors. Fuel is present in the old style tbs.

Message: Yes you remove three sensors, the only one requiring actual cleaning is the IAC, spray it off good with some B-12 or what have you. Remove the TB form the manifold and spray it out thoroughly. You may want to consider getting a gasket from TB to manifold but you can get away with reusing. Torque to spec when reinstalling the TB.

Message: Here's a thread that explains the procedure...
How to clean TB & IAC Solenoid
Not sure, but I think that the instructions from that thread are copied from SpeedTweaks.
