Message: where can i buy a 180 degree thermostat for my 3.9 1998 dak and how hard is it to install. any tutorials on how to install it?

Message: Fairly simple. You can pick up a 180 t-stat at Autozone or any other auto parts store. I picked up my last 2 from Autozone. Robert Shaw t-stats are the best, but apparently they are very difficult to find these days.
Here is a description on how to do it on the 5.2 engine. Yours should be pretty similar.

Message: The hardest parts are cleaning the gasket surface and reinstalling the bolts to the waterneck. It's really crammed in between the alternator and manifold. I'll give you a hint, when you go to reinstall the bolts put gasket sealer in your socket, that will hold the bolt in place until you can get it threaded and wrench down on it.

Message: another way to get it to stay in the socket, Sears sells magnets that seat in the bottom of the socket, they cost only a few bucks, with the added advantage of not having to clean up gasket sealer when finished
