Subject: battery IP: Logged
Message: i was just wondering what the normal battery puts out, is it 13.5 V, 2.25 V per cell for a 6 cell battery??

Message: I'm no technician...but, As far as I know, the output of a 12v battery with the engine off should be 12v......or 2v/cell. Might be less if anything has used up some of the charge. The alternator puts out 13.8v so that the battery will accept a charge. If your reading 13.8 volts (or there about) at the battery you must be checking it with the engine running. Turn it off and check it again.

Unless something was left on - battery
should read just above 12 volts , engine off
Then running , the alternator should be
sending 13 to 15 , depending on load
{ what is on } and the state of the battery..
