Subject: removing touch up paint IP: Logged
Message: I purchased some Dupli-color touch up paint that was supposed to be an exact match to my deep amythest pearl dakota. After applying the touch up paint with the attached brush, the color matched pretty good when it was wet. After it dried, the color was completely different than my original paint even after applying a clear coat on top. It looks like crap. Does anybody know of a way to remove the touch up paint without disturbing the original paint? Thanks.

Message: dont hold me to this but I'd say lacquer thinner. Most touch up paints are acrylic lacquer based while the base/clear coats on your truck are urethane. Not to mention that the original paint is much more durable than the touch up. YOu can probably rub lightly and remove it. It may dull the paint around it but that could be compounded shiny again. I will repeat, dont hold me to this. Do some more due dilligence. I have done paintwork but I am not a paint professional.

Message: Hey Mark thanks for the reply. I contacted Dupli-color and they said lacquer thinner also. You know your paint!
