Subject: * Help* 2001 Tach Hook Up IP: Logged
Message: Hello I have a 2001 dodge dakota with the 4.7 V8, I just got a VDO Extreme Tach and can't find where to hook up for signal. The dealer told me the signal was going to the instrument cluster, which told me nothing I knew that how else could my factory tach work, anyhow does anyone know where else I can get the signal without removing my dash and instrument cluster to tap a wire. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Bill Clements

Message: Bill I will look in the service manual and see wich diagnostic conector you can sample for your tach. Bill why and the heck are you adding a second tach to your vechile? I realy am trying to understand the reasoning behind two tach's. P.S. You can normaly remove the cluster without removeing the dash on most vechiles.

I got 2 tachs on my 97 V6. Sometimes your going too fast to have to look thru your steering wheel. Its much easier having a 10" tach mounted on the dash with shift lights. I picked up .3 seconds after mine was installed. Sorry, cant help with the connections, because I didnt install it. Good luck!
