Subject: Exhaust Question IP: Logged
Message: Is there any practical (or legal) reasons that exhaust needs to exit out of the side or rear of the vehicle, or can I just weld a muffler right after the cat and have it exit basically underneath the vehicle. Thanks.

Message: It's a little quieter in the cab if the tail pipe exits behind the axle. That's about it. In non-pick ups, you would get a lot of exhaust gases in the passenger compartment. But as long as the pipe is well behind the rear of the cab it shouldn't be an issue.

Message: Exhaust gas is very corrosive, and will dry rot rubber parts.
