Message: The only place to fill a transmission is through the dipstick tube. And, do it carefully, checking often so as to NOT to overfill the transmission.

Message: It usually states, to check it while running, warm, at idle. That right? I shift my tranny, no dipstick, cept the one driving.

Message: Pinion: from the add mark to the full mark is only a pint, so like OnlyOnePlace said, dont over fill. Check warm, in Neutral, engine running.

Message: Check it with the truck on a level surface too. If you check in on a sloped driveway or road it throws off the dipstick reading.
Drive the truck until the engine is warm about 195 degrees on the temp guage or maybe 10-15 miles, stop the truck on a level surface, put on Ebrake and shift the trans into neutral. Your ready to check the fluid level.
If your checking it cold, in gear, or on a sloped surface your reading will be off.
