Subject: Rear End Gears IP: Logged
Message: I have a 98 club cab 2WD 5.2L 3.55 rear end, I want to increase my towing limit by changing the rear end to 4.10 gears, How will this affect my gas mileage, spedometer. Would I need to get the transmission re-programed to shift at different points.

Message: There are some websites that can calculate the rpm's exactly but I'd estimate that at 75mph your rpm's would jump by around 400. Your gas mileage would go up in town because of the quicker starts, but suffer a bit on the highway.
Because of how the systems are configured you do not need to make any adjustments for the speedometer or the transmission when changing gear ratios.
