Subject: I bought a new truck! IP: Logged
Message: Well I had my heart set on a black QC. I have
looked highand low but could never find one that
had what I wanted. Last week I visited my local
Dodge dealer and saw a sweet 5.9L Grand cherokee.
So after it was all said and done I'm driving
around one of the fastest SUV around. Its kinda
shame after all the reasearch and reading I have
done on the dakota but at least its still a mopar!
Now my question is how close is the 5.9L in the
jeep to the dakota 5.9L Can I do the same mods etc?
thanks everyone

Message: I thought about it but this one was just way to nice to pass up. I don't have any kids so I don't need all the space. Plus I'm not hauling around a extra 1000 lbs of truck so I'm much faster haha

Message: Grand Cherokees are nice vehicles. Congrats on the purchase! You should be able to do similar mods (exhaust, air intake, T-stat, plug wires, etc). But be advised that space is likely tighter under the Grand Cherokee's hood than a Dakota's. Same goes for any exhaust system, wheels & tires, etc. Back to underhood mods, I think some items may be reversed on the GC as compared to the Dak, so make sure any items that you buy are specific to the GC. As an example, the 4.7 GC I believe has the airbox on the driver's side, and on the Dak it is on the passenger side. Not sure if the 5.9 GC's do the same thing.

Message: I own 98 5.9L also. I have installed a Turbo City intake, www.turbocity.com. I am very pleased with the mod. Also a tip is buy a 50 series Flowmaster muffler with 3 inch inlet and outlet. then use the stock tailpipe for the discreet best sounding car around. Both of these make mine very fast. What color is yours?

Message: Its dark graphite, had 25k miles, got it for 5k under bluebook, and is in great condition. I think my first mod will be a K&N FIPK, then wires/cap, headers, etc etc. Any one else out there know about 5.9L mods please advise :)
Thanks

Message: Jason, how old are you? I am assuming under 25 b/c I said the same thing when I was 21 and bought a regular cab truck. Now, 28 with 3 and 1 on the way, I wish I had foresight b/c now I wouldn't have a car payment!
Ah, kids these days! I'm having fun at your expense but I like the Durango better.

Message: Good guess 99. I'm 24, unmarried (for now). So yes
in a few years I will probably be getting
something bigger. Or on the other hand the wife
and always drive a minivan :)

Message: Hi Jason,
To really wake up that 5.9, if you don't mind running premium, install a good computer, tube headers and 2 1/2" turbo's (axe the cat. converter), a shift kit and 3.92 gears.
I've done this to my '95 D1500 SWB and it hauls butt.
Anyone know what else might help?
Thanks
