Subject: Olds 3.8L timing chain removal IP: Logged
Message: This is off topic but I thought I might find some advice here. The "Off Topic" forum doesn't look like it has many gear heads.
My daughters boyfriend has a 1990 Olds 3.8L V6 that needs the camshaft interupter magnet changed. This replacement requires removal of the timing chain cover.
I have searched to find a step by step procedure but haven't found one. I did find one post that suggested that it was a big job and even required removal of the distributor.
Has anyone done this job Or know where a job description is located? How difficult is it?
Thanks
Bill

I suggest going to a library and checking out a Chilton, Motor or Haynes auto repair manual.
You can also search e-bay for Genuine Factory Manuals for your particular car or truck.
