Message: You can tow anything with your dakota, if you goto dodges websight, you can find the max towing weights for your specific truck. The truck is probably strong enough to tow more, but it is unsafe due to the actual weight of the dakota. Of course, I am sure an experienced person in towing can let the dakota handle more.

Message: I've towed a 2500 lbs trailer with 1200 lbs in the back of the my 96 from southern Ohio to NE Pennsylvania. 4 banger/5 speed. It wasn't overly happy with me about towing that much, but there wasn't a handling issue. I have a class 3 hitch on the truck also.

Message: I tow my 69 Road Runner (3500 lb) on a dual axle tilt bed trailer (2200 lb), plus a few hundred lb’s of toolboxes and equipment with my 2000 quad cab (5.9 L, auto, tow package class 3 hitch). It has no problem hauling that load around. I just lock it out of overdrive.

Message: I tow a three horse trailer, 3500lbs empty with up to three horses plus gear with a 4.7, 3.92 AWD, LSD, 5900 GVWR, Tow and HDL packages, rated tow capacity, 6300lbs. Tows better than my Chevy 4x4 350 5spd does and brakes better. You have to tow slow and careful with livestock anyway. A Dakota isn't a 2500 with a Cummings in it. They are powerful for their size and can do alot more work than people realize. The best short bed out there in my opinion.

Message: I tow a 26' camper with no probelms. I fact I even
got a speeding ticket last fall doing 70 in a 55
going up hill!
RV place told me that 26' would be the max length
to pull unless I got a full size Ram.
Now I'm SURE someone out there is goona say they
have pulled a 50 footer with no problems either
but those are the kind of red necks that will
overload something to the point that the frame
begins to bend also. Just not too bright in the
upper deck and still drinken Billy Beer.

Message: Tow my 5,500 lb 18' toy box full of 2 quads, water and gas but I did swap to 4.10 gears and added several mods like a tranny cooler and a superchips programmer.
Weight distrabution hitch is a must for a Dak.
