Ok now for a real answer. I'm sure your set up is the same
as the 99 Dakota so here goes... You need to remove the
trim panel that goes around your instrument gauges and
your stereo and air vents above it. It's all one piece. It's
held in place with a bunch of clips so I was able to just pull
gently on mine and it comes right off. If you have an auto
trans you will probably have to shift into low to swing the
bezel up and over the steering wheel.

I have a 03 dak, and for me to remove mine I had to remove 2 screws at the bottom of the black trim that encompasses all of the radio, heating controls, etc. Then it just pops put, few clips holding them but they release. Then the radio is held in by a black "frame" that utilizes 4 screws, once you get into it, is is easy. Make life easier on your, go out and buy the quick connect adapters for the wires, and you will also need an antennae adapter (dodge uses its own special size) those adapters make it simple and quick.

Sorry KlNG SHlT!!!! No actually my comment was not an insult!!! It was also more insightful than your message, because your way would have broken the plastic around the screws holding his trim panel on. I did not know how to do it, because I own a 98. I have seen 01's before, and know that they are different, and did not want him to break his truck due to misleading information!!! I was not insulting you, I was simply telling him that you are wrong, but you had to get your thong in a bunch, and flame back on me. As for the name (no ass) that part is not an insult either, you are right, I am a little man, and have "no ass" thanks for taking it all to heart, and being a prick, next time you arent sure how to do something, dont tell someone the wrong way to do it, and this kind of thing wont happen. If I dont know an answer, I keep my mouth shut.

Yes I do. I was in a hurry, running late for work, and didn't want him to break his truck before someone told him not to do it. I'm not arguing with you over this dumb sh!t. It's retarded, I'm not in 5th grade anymore. You would be pretty pissed if someone told you how to do something on your truck, and you fukked it up wouldn't you?

Sorry about that. There used to be a free page that had complete photos and instructions. I'll try to find it.

Well "no ass" your name sure sounds 5th grade to me. People might treat you with more respect and think you have more intelligence if you didn't have a name like no ass. I certainly would have. With all the flaming and posts made by kids on here you never can tell. I've cetainly read more than enough arguments on here like that.

Now for your other issue. I know what you mean about getting the wrong advice which is why I stated I had a 99 not the year the original poster was looking for. I see a lot of posts that just go unanswered and thought I would say something. I would personally take any advice with a grain of salt and I'm smart enough to look for retaining screws or bolts before trying to just pull on anything first. If you were that concerned about someone breaking their truck then post the info instead of insulting me. It only takes a few seconds to type a sentence. I always read message boards and post replies when I'm in a "big hurry." Hmm.
