Subject: break in period? IP: Logged
Message: what is the best rule of thumb for breaking in a new vehicle?? 1st oil change at around a 1000 miles or so, no hard accelerations for the 1st few hundred miles, the brakes need to be "set" by doing some hard braking right off the bat, etc...any body else have any tips or corrections for me, I ordered a Hemi Durango and want to do the right thing!

Message: My 03 Dakota manual actually RECOMMENDED hard accellerations from the higher gears (said to avoid em in low gears) and the first recommended service interval is 3k. I changed my oil at 1700 just because it's the way it's always been and I'm loath to change!
