Message: Paul -
What did you have to mod to get a fit without hitting the dash? I've also heard that the hurst boot combined with the all metal shifter increase cab noise - true? I've been pondering the buy, but have been hesitant due to mods required and the noise factor - appreciate any input you have...

Message: ScottE,
There is an adjustable stops on the shifter that you can adjust so it doesnt hit the dash. It's close ( 1/8th of an inch or so ) but it wont hit. The noise is a little louder. I think most of the noise is because I left the rubber sound dampner out. So it's noticable but it's not an annoying super loud sound. And you get used to it. You do however have to fill a .264 inch space between the shifter ball and the bottom of the mounting plate. I made 4 replicas of the gasket out of sheet metel and made two new gaskets out of blank Mr.Gasket material to fill the space. People have talked about making a 1/4 peice out of aluminum or using bolts that are a 1/4 inch tall. After fashioning the spacer the install took 15 minutes. Use the stock bolts too, they are longer.
Well worth the money.

Message: I ment 1/4 inch nuts to fill the space, not bolts. There is also another post on here somewhere that refrences a moparchat.com thread with some good info.
and...the shifter boot doeasnt fit after you install the shifter (the angle the stick is at) so I took the rubber boot off the square plastic piece and turned it around. It works for now until I find an aftermarket boot that will fit.
