Subject: Ball Joints Covered by Dodge IP: Logged
Message: I have an 02 Quad Cab. My upper right ball joint went at 40,000 miles and I did not have the extended warranty so I called Dodge Coorperate and told them the problem and they told me to bring it to a dealership for an evaluation and they would fix it. I had the work done today and they replaced the upper control arm and the ball joint(the left was done 6,000 miles ago). It cost me $35 out of pocket for the evaluation. It is worth the 30 minute phone call to dodge.

All 4 ball joints, inner and outer tie rods are bad.

Message: The only problem with doing that is they replace it with the same junk parts that went out the first time. You'll get 30-40k miles out of this new balljoint as well before it goes bad. Also, the other upper and both lowers will go bad soon. If you're looking to keep your truck for more than 30-40k additional miles, it's worth installing the Moog balljoints. Just my .02$.
