Message: I have a 99 4x4 CC that was in a minor accident with a guard rail about a 2 years ago.
The front pass side frame horn hit the rail and was slightly damaged along with the pass side tire blew out and the rim scraped across the road and had to be replaced. The dealer did all the body work, and said the frame was not bent, and they repaird the crunched 3 inches of the frame horn by heating it and bending it back.
Well it started to get a vibration at 43 MPH then it smooths out and comes back at 68 MPH.
Found the upper ball joints were about to fall out, and replaced with Moogs. This helped a lot but vibe still there.
Jacked it up and the wheel brgs feel tight, and so do the tie rods etc. No play in anything. Had tires rebalanced and rotated also.
I don't want to start throwing parts at it until it goes away.
I have new lower ball joints but didnt put them in yet, the Moogs. But mine feel tight.
Now I saw on www.oreillyauto.com website that all the front end parts are offered in Enhanced Design or OEM, such as tie rods, idler arms, etc. so does this indicate that I will be replacing all my steering components with the better parts to fix this vibe!
