Message: Has anyone had a GOOD experience with a carpeted bed liner OTHER THAN the BedRug?
After looking at some of them, I like the BedRug the best, but I'm balking at the $350.00 + price tag. I just don't think that I can fork over that kinda loot for a couple of hunks of carpet, however nice they might be.
The BedRug seems to fit the best (I saw the Steelhorse, but it doesn't seem to conform to the contours as well).
I don't want a plastic bed liner or a rubber mat, and I'd rather not build my own... I did that with my last truck, and all of the plywood that it took added way too much weight.
I'm wanting to make a decision soon, cuz I'm quickly destroying my bed.
Your thoughts and/or experiences, please!

Message: I have the carpet kit from checkmate. I think it was around $150. My wife got it for me when I got my cover. It is ok, but not the best. I recommend the steel horse. Bud of mine had a cover just like mine and a steelhorse, it was awesome. Bed rugs are good too , just expensive.
If you want cheap and easy, go checkmate. BTW, my sides aren't molded, they are lose carpet that is held in place by velcro.

Message: Yeah, I saw the Steelhorse, but it also has the "paste-on" sides.
I guess I was hopin' that there was some other brand out there that I'd never heard of that might be what I'm lookin' for.
Sigh....

Message: i have a bed rug in my 2001 dodge dakota quad cab. for me, excellent choice. concerned about the price, too, but when i saw the quality, ease of installation, looks, fit, and performance... well worth the price. a lot of stuff gets thrown in the back... bed rug will protect it.

Message: For $350+ why not get a spray-in bedliner? That would be more durable than a bed rug and it looks great! I plan on getting a spray-in liner this fall.

Message: Hey Broeheem,
Go to www.surplusequipment.com. The owners name is Jack Hackett and has the bed rugs for $319.00 with free shipping. Ordered mine the other day and it shipped the same day and was here in MD in 2 days. I actually just called him on the phone and placed my order. The bed rug is super nice and is a really good fit. Fits the contours of the bed perfectly and only takes like 30 minutes to put in.

Message: rdakrt-Thanks for the info!
Do you have standard short box or the Quad cab shorty?(I assume you have a R/T?)
I've been looking at the Bedrug, Steelhorse, and some other cheaper ones for some time--that seems to be a great price for the Bedrug.

Message: I've had the bed-rug for 10 months now. The foundation is heavy duty molded closed cell foam that cannot absorb water. Even the bottom has the ribs molded in that fit the ribs of the bed of the truck. They must have made a mold of the truck bed to build the foundation with foam injection. It's not just a throw in carpet.
They fit perfectly and you can remove the tie downs and reinstall them after the bed rug is installed.
I have had no problems whatsoever.

Message: Contact Randy Pile at World Wide Performance Parts and he can hook you up with a Bed Rug for your Dakota. He had a group buy on them a while back and might still have some or can get you one. I know he is less than $300. Randy's number is 1-727-367-7453 or 1-727-385-9287.
