Subject: Disable Auto-Lock Feature IP: Logged
Message: I'm trying to figure out how to disable the annoying auto-lock feature on my 2001 4x4 QC. I did the procedure per the manual and nothing happened (turn key on/off 4 time then hit door lock to lock on door). Then I was told by someone else on this site to do something with my FOB and the key. That silenced the horn signal on door locking.
anyone Have any other tips for disabling that feature? Is the manual just wrong? It's just an annoying little feature when the back doors don't unlock.
Thanks!

Message: Are you talking about the going over 15 mph auto-lock feature or something else? I canceled this feature on my 03 by following instructions in manual.

Message: It's in the manual..but kinda hard to find. I did it on mine...and if memory serves you get in the truck, put on the seatbelt, put the key in in the off position and click it over one click to on and back in forth for a total of 4 times ending on off, then press the auto lock door button. A sound will chime when done correctly.

Message: I did it with no problem following the commands in
owners manual for my 01 2WD QC. As stated earlier,
the chime sound at end tells you that you performed the procedure correctly.

Message: bman,
It sounds like, you're refereing to two systems!
The auto lock at 15mph, and the back seat child safety feature!
There's a little switch on the rear of the back door when you open it, to disable the child safety lock on the REAR doors.
Good luck

Message: Thanks everyone. I'm referring to the 15mph auto lock feature. I too have tried to disable it per the manual, but I get no chime and no change. It's just annoying when I get out, go to the back door to get something out and it's still locked. Didn't know if something was different on a 2001 that the manual didn't reflect.
Thanks.

Message: I just bougt an '01 QC, and went through the procedure to turn off the 15mph auto lock, with no success. I must have tried it 20-30 times. Kept checking to make sure I was reading the manual correctly, and still no chime - no success.
What I did notice, is that it was hard to figure out if I was turning the key the correct amount, from off to on, 4 times, leaving it in the off position. It didn't seem to be a very positive click into the off position. But I tried it going all the way back to where you can take the key out, and that didn't work either.
Someone above mentioned something about having the seatbelt on. I'll have to try that, because I do think that I did not have the seatbelt on when I tried it.
Has anyone out there, who was not able to do it on the first try, able to figure out how to make this work????

Message: Another good example of the auto industry putting all kinds of so called "safety features" in their vehicles that in reality only cause more problems for everyone.
You cant correct for peoples stupidity.

Message: . Get in close doors and put on the seat belt.
2. Turn key to on (not start)
3. Press and hold the Lock button on the fob for at least 4 seconds, then at the same time press the panic button.
4. If you hear one chime (you did it correct)release both buttons. And that should do it.

Message: I have a 2002 4.7 QC that locks ten seconds or so after you have started the truck. Nothing to do with the 15 mph autolock. I believe that mine is not a factory lock where the 15 mph is factory.

Message: You have to turn the key all the way on to the point where all
the lights and chimes come on but not starting the engine. Do
that on and off four times and then press the lock button you
will immediately hear a small chime. I tried all of the other
ways mentioned above and it did not work, I just did it my way
and it worked

Message: What if I want to make my auto locks work again? They used
to automatically lock at 15 mph, now they don’t. Not saying
this has anything to do with it, but I just had my starter
replaced a few days ago and that’s when it stopped working.
How do I correct it?

panic. Worked perfect.
