Message: There's a aftermarket company that will retrofit the old 392's with aluminum heads, new pistons/rods, crank and all the goodies. They claim 500+ horsepower on pump gas. All for about $3500/$4000. I'd consider doing it if I found an old 392.

Whats the name of that company? I just happen to have a hemi from a 55 royal sitting around. I think its a 352 though. anyways it says red ram on the valve covers. don't know if that was a performance model or not.

Message: If the distributor's in the rear, it's an early engine. If it's in the front, it's a 426. If it's out of a 60's car, it would have to be a 426. They stopped making the early hemis in the late 50's.

Message: A Challenger? Good luck. Most of them are already restored or half way there. You'd do better finding a Dart, Bee, Charger, even a Cuda then a Challenger.
And if you do find one, my hat's off to you.
