Message: Unless you are referring to road racing or long distance racing, you will never shift into overdrive. 1/8 and 1/4 mile racing will never see that gear. It will NOT matter.

Message: This is a stretch, and I'm not really sure about the details, but, with the OD off, the torque converter locks up in third gear. I think this would be a bad thing for racing, being that, while the torque converter is locking (which seems to take forever sometimes), the PCM alters the engine characteristics (timing, injector pulse, etc.) negatively to a slight degree, thus, decreasing the power output of the engine (I'm assuming that Dodge does this to TRY to extend the life of their trannies). Again - this is kind of a shot in the dark, as I don't know all of the details -- take it for what it's worth.

Message: Well, yeah if you are bracket racing. But I have had both an Auto and 5spd...a 5.2 and now a 4.7
I win a lot more on the street than I did with my Auto, the Autos never rev and engine out to it's fullest, lots of early shifts. Plus flying over hills in 3rd and not having the truck want to shift in and out of 3 and 4 is always a nice benefit.
There are benefits to both, but on the street anyway, I like a 5spd. Plus now I have a 4x4 that I do offroading and towing with and the 5spd is great for that stuff.
Anyway, I'm rambling on and on here. Later!

Message: Braket racing is where you put a dial-in time down (what you think your truck is going to run, based off of previous run times), then your opponant also puts his dial in time down, whoever is closest to what they said their truck would run wins (if you put a 15.2 dial in, your opponant put 12.4, you ran a 15.7, he ran a 12.5, he wins because he is closest to his dial-in time). I believe either 60' time or reaction time is put into that factor too, im not sure how though, help me out people. Hope this helped.

Message: as for the post about the T.C. locking up at high RPM's in 3rd gear with overdive off...that is true...but to make it not do it jus push the overdive button on and off repeatedly when u are gettin close to when it locks...that will fool the pcm, not put it in overdrive and not lock the T.C.

Message: I just raced my 2003 4x4 last night at cecil county in MD. It doesn't matter with the o.d. I ran 2 times and got almost the exact same times. 1 with O.D. on and the other with O.D. off. 16.55 with O.D. off and 16.58 with O.D. on. Not to good but it's an A/T tranny and with no other mods than a flowmaster 40 series delta flow.
