Message: Just purchased a 03 Dakota-Quad. I realize I'm still in the engine break in period(352), but what is a realistic milage owners are getting? Currently getting 14 Hiway at 60-70 mph, and its killin my pocket.

Message: I use to get 18-20 mpg before my supercharger. Now it is a little less. It all depends on how much you put your foot in to the gas.

You running the AC?
I'm only a 3.9 but notice quite the drop with the AC stealing some ponies.

Message: I have a 2001 4.7 Quad cab. Did a round trip this weekend with full cab and rear end.....interstate about 80% of the trip and at 80mph....some city driving and averaged 17mpg! I can get near 20mpg at 75 with just myself on Interstate drives.
I would switch to synthetics to help your power/milage.

Message: WOW. Either something is off in my Dak or you guys are lucky. I put the R/T wheels on my truck so the additional rubber isn't helping me any. But, whether city or highway I practically NEVER break 17 but never go below 15.5. I run 93 octane with cold air intake and split exhaust, but those mods didn't gain me any that I recall.
Been running standard oil for the last 79k.

15 mpg city 18-20 highway (still testing highway)
city driving is like-driving
highway is 75 mph cruise on.
Side note, I noticed a huge change in my quad's performance after the first 700 miles.
wait until then before you worry.

Message: ksboy27...
Switch back to regular gas unless you specifically have a tuned ECU for performance and the use of higher octance gasoline. Due to 93 octane's different burn characteristics, it will not get as good gas mileage with a stock ECU configuration. If it's pinging a lot, then use 89 octane or switch to one heat range colder plugs, but do not use 93 octane fuel.

Message: My 2001 QC read 18.5 average on the overhead console and I commute a lot of freeway miles. Not sure about my new 2003 QC, as it doesn't have the overhead console. My dealer told me there was no break-in period on these trucks and drive it normal. He only recommended the first oil change be a little sooner than the normal 3,000.

Message: Jaggy, how do you like those 4.10s? I want to get 4.10s real bad. How much did you end up paying for them, installation kit (gaskets etc) and installation (if applicable)?
So far I've got intake, exhaust (just a ravin muffler) and HO cams. I really want to get a set of 4.10s and a full catback exhaust system (leaning towards gibson dual-side swept, the one that looks like a stock system except with two exiting pipes). But, I digress.
