Subject: thoughts on my exhaust
IP: Logged

Message:
Ok i got my truck back from the exhaust shop yesterday where they installed a dual exhaust setup. I am very pleased with the sound of the flowmaster 40. But i do not like the way the tips look coming out of the back. they are slanted down in-stead of being straight out. Also one of the pipes is touching my spare tire. I don't believe this is a good thing. Now my question(s) for every-one is: Since the system is welded together is it even feaseable for me to take it back to the and ask them to fix it? Or will they have to cut the system off, bend to pipes, and me pay for it all over again? thanks for any help.

Nick,
You should not have left the shop until you were
satisfied with their work. That said, if the shop
is a quality business they should not have problem
with fixing the problems of the angled pipe, and the touching of the spare tire.
If they refuse to do it for free I would go else where.
Just my opinion
Bill

but the pipes get hot and could melt the tire! i would go back and bring that to their attention, and if they dont fix it for free, go somewhere that will help you, is it warranted?

There's no way you want to live with the pipe touching the spare. I have duals on my Dak, too. All the muffler shop has to do is weld a small "L" bracket to the inside left frame rail to slightly push the spare tire to the right. All you need is 1" clearance. In the meantime, loosen the tire mounting cable enough to where you can kick the tire to the right slightly, and retighten the cable; for a temporary fix.
