Subject: 4.7 intake manifold changes IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know if there were changes made to the 2003 intake manifold on the 4.7? I just bought a helix tb spacer for my 2003 Ram 4.7, and I don't see how it will fit. It is for a 2002-2003 model, but I think they're different. I don't see anyway to disconnect the throttle linkage from the intake. It looks like the intake is made around the cables, and I don't see anywhere to unbolt it. Does anyone know how? I also bought a used intake from an older model to modify. Will it bolt up to my truck? The guy I bought it from said there were no changes to the 4.7 intake since it came out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Message: I actually have seen improvements on the 4.7 with a tb spacer. Not on the 3.9/5.2/5.9 engines. Have also seen 1-2 mpg fuel mileage improvements. All the know-it-alls on this site are ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!

Message: Troy, I've read rumors here that the 03's now have the HO manifold stock. I Don't know, sure you didn't miss something? If it can be put together, it can be taken apart.
I think on my 01, when I ported the TB, I unbolted it, then took the throttle cable off, been ashile since then though.
Good luck

Message: Troy - First you said you couldn't make it work. Then you said you saw improvements on a 4.7 engine. Which was it? They do not do anything on an engine that has port injection.

Message: Hey Trukguy, I have witnessed improvements on other 4.7 engines. No, I cannot get mine to work, but I do not have the only 4.7 in the world. They work on 4.7's: I seen it myself.
Texas Todd, I've heard that rumor as well. I think if it's true it must be later '03's, because mine was made in January and it has a non-HO intake. I cannot see anywhere to take the intake apart where the throttle cables are. On my 2000 5.9L there is a bracket that the cables run through that is easily removed. This truck has the cables running right through the top of the intake. You've got the throttle body with the linkage and cables running straight back directly off the tb, through the intake, and around the back of the engine. It looks like the upper part of the intake is removable, but I don't see anywhere to take it loose at. Thanks.

Message: The '03's have a different tb than the '02's, if it is for a 02, then I doubt it would work, or fit.

Message: OK if you say so Troy. I also heard that if you put magnets on your fuel line you will actually make gas too. I got some magnets I could sell you for a reasonable price of $29.95 plus shipping and handling. They won't actually do anything but after you spend the money on them you will convince yourself that they actually work. You might even get some of your dumber friends to believe it too.

Message: Is this guy for real???? Just because you don't know what your talking about or something didn't work on your truck, doesn't mean it will not work for someone else that does know what they are talking about. If you would like to come take a ride in two of my buddies trucks with the spacer will be more than glad to show you. We can remove the spacer and record mileage and performance times, then install it and show you the difference. Then you can write then down on a piece of paper and shove them up your hind end!!
