Subject: K&N filter really works!
IP: Logged

Message:
In getting ready for my supercharger install I temporarily clamped the K&N cone type filter to the factory air hat so I could remove the factory airbox and get some space to start mounting the supercharger controls. I didn't think much of the change at the time until I drove the truck! You can hear the difference immediately and it feels like it has some more pep.

Of course this is sucking hot air in from the engine, but my intake temperature gauge didn't show any real difference. I did however see a big difference in the Air/Fuel gauage's operation. Typically it bounces between lean and rich until 70mph where it holds in the ideal range. Now it starts to maintain the ideal A/F ratio around 55mph. Also, my gas mileage went from an average of 12.9 mpg to 14.4 mpg on my 30 mile trip to work. I had NEVER had anything above 12.9 mpg previously. This is on a quad cab, 5.9 liter, 3.92 gears.

To the daily driver, they will prob feal the same.

A homemade intake and cone filter will be a little less restrictive but if your not looking for tenths at the track, save your money and just do the drop in. Youll feal a difference.

Interesting. How fast do you drive on the highway? I typically go 70-80 mph (which is keeping up with traffic). How do you like the 4 barrel TB?
