Subject: Removing badges IP: Logged
Message: I know you can get the stock stickers off with heat and peeling and such, but are the badges (Dakota SLT, and V8) held on with adhesive or are there holes behind those? I'm thinking bout pulling all the emblems/badges off.

Message: On mine (1999 Dakota SLT) the Dakota SLT badges were just stuck on with adhesive and I took those off by taking a heat gun and warming it up and pulling them off with no marks on the paint. The V8 Emblems (V6 on mine) had holes behind them. I just took the welder my dad had and welded up the holes and then took a grinder to even out the rough edges, sprayed a little primer and then my dad did the paintwork for me. Another alternative is to take the badges off and you can use some bondo to fill up the holes. I wouldn’t recommend the bondo but it does work if you don’t have access to a welder.

Message: Thanks, waterpolo. I may just take off everything but the V8, cause I don't want to fool around with filling and paint.
Where did your name come from? I'm at Georgia Tech, and my roommate plays water polo.

Message: No prob, yeah the V6 and V8 badges are a pain in the butt. As for waterpolo, I got the name b/c I’ve been playing water polo since I was 10. I grew up here in southern California (Rowland heights, close to Anahiem/Disneyland sort of) Then I went and played D-1 at the Air Force Academy. I’ve kind of stuck with it by playing on club teams but I live in Lancaster California and the closest club team is about 80 miles away so it kind of limits me.

Message: That's pretty cool, man. I didn't really know about water polo till I got here. I actually almost went to the Academy. Got nominated, but no appointment, but my best friend is out there now.

Message: Hey BAE, I live in GA and have a good friend of mine that goes to Tech. His name is chris and he drives a 1993 or 94 300ZX TT with T-tops. So far the only mods that he has that I know of is K&N filter and a HKS turbo timer. If you do know him, in a school that big, tell him Steve with the V6 dak says hi.

Message: Weird, I graduated BSME from GT in 2001. I live in Houston now, which somehow is the largest Alumni count outside of GA. I pulled my SLT stickers off with fishing string by sliding it behind them, but that left some slight scratching. I have black paint, and it scratches like no tomorrow. The emblems break apart pretty easily so it took me a while. The rear Dodge sticker on the tail gate was pretty easy to remove.

Message: I have a 99 R/T and I also want to remove the badges (except V8). Anybody done this after the truck was 4 years old? Im worried about the paint having faded and then parts where the stickers were will be brighter.

Message: I have a 2000 Sport and I took all the stickers off mine this last weekend and I can't see where they were as far as paint fade. On the tailgate I could a little bit but I waxed it and now I can't tell.

Message: I've taken mine off,,didn't notice any paint fade. BUT - some people have claimed that a good buffing w/some good wax will take care of that. I've never tried it, but sounds doable.
