Message: OK, Here is the question. I have a 1999 Dakota with a 5 speed and the 318. The truck quit on me yesterday while I was pulling my trailer. I replaced the fuel pump, checked all my fuses and relays and I still have no fuel pressure!! What the hell is causing this to happen. Oh, I also checked the wire going to the fuel pump and there is no power. The thing that sucks is that I'm down $215 for the fuel pump and $120 for the tow home. The old pump works when I run a jumper to it! I guess this thing was built on a Monday! WHAT DO I DO NOW? ANY IDEAS ON WHAT THIS COULD BE?

Message: check your wiring going from your ignition switch. because when you turn your key to on position you should be able to here the wine of the fuel pump. if not check your ignition switch wiring.

Message: here are my suggestions:
you say you have power to the fuel pump relay?
pull the cover off the relay and activate it manually and see if the fuel pump runs. does it? if so, next, go to tha ASD relay. power and ground? everything else work ok but no fuel pressure? wiggle the key in the ignition switch? anything out of the ordinary happen? check engine light on? when you turn the key on it energizes the ASD Relay, which in turn energizes the Fuel Pump Relay. check all wiring, connectors, fuses, relays, ignition switch, steering column wiring harness, etc... hope this helps.

Message: I've tried to wiggle the wires on the column and wiggle the ignition switch but got no luck. I've also tried to swap out the relays with new ones to see if that was the issue but had no luck also. At the connector that plugs into the fuel pump there is no 12 Volts present. It's something in the wiring and I dont know what. I was gonna try to jump the relay but I wasn't sure what prongs to jump to what. The diagram on the side of the relays suck.
