Sorry but I have to vent! A good portion of the people on this site don't have a clue what is going on. First the hemi ram is cool but I read posts about people who have stock hemi ram 4x4 that are getting low to mid 15 sec 1/4's that's crap get a grip guys. I have a company vehicle that is a 2003 ram QC SB 2x4 hemi it is fast when you compare it to other trucks of the same stature but IT IS NOT as fast as people post.I have been racing various vehicles for over 16 years so I have more experience racing than the age of some of the punks on here.I am lucky to have such a WORK truck to drive everyday but it is not what everyone thinks it is.We have several others aswell and they are not that fast either. If you talk to people that actually drive these trucks everyday you WILL find that they all love them and think they are great but not as good as they expected they would be.Don't get me wrong they are sweet to look at and are very powerful but they are not built for speed stock they are built for power and working.Second I feel that anyone posting how fast there trucks are on this site should have some sort of proof of there times because with my experience I feel maybe 10 % of the folks on here are telling the truth.I have shown a couple of guys I hang with that build engines for street cars that go into the 10- 11 second range this site and think I'm a dork for even bothering to visit it.A bit of advice for all of you from masters of performance engine rebuilders DONT even bother with the throttle body it is a waste of time and money unless there is internal work completed on you engine. They have DYNOed alot of combinations of mods over the years and that is the biggest scam on the market. They have seen a max of 3-4 hp from a TB change on a stock engine is that worth the money spent?Next the 4.7 and the 5.9 both are awesome cause they are Dodges although I am partial to the 5.9 because I own 2 black CC R/T an 01 and an 03 and love them both and bought them for my own reasons but if you own the 4.7 party on Garth!Last but certainly not least could some of you please grow up!!Aren't we supposed to talk about how we can kick some ford, chevy, and jap crap cars and trucks asses but yet battle each other more? Take it easy everone and DODGE ROCKS!

Better be careful about the throttle body talk. On this site the TBs are next to God in most people s thinking, and I am surprised no one has slammed you yet. But I agree fully with your post.

I am truly not looking to be slammed as I am just trying to give some good advise from people who really know and understand TB's.These guys work with them everyday and know what actually works. They tell me that the only way to get power from them is with proper cam/head and then Exhaust upgrades, then they do wonders.Just trying to save some guys some money and time.Get your internals reworked to want more air then get the TB you want and you will be much happier with the progress of your mopar.Just givin' friendly advice.

think of it like this, you're trying to push a watermelon through a straw.you have to make the whole straw bigger, not just the opening.

as for the hemi, get a real 426hemi,or even get creative and slap a small block chevy in your dakota, then you'll have styling AND performance!!

I can't imagine a Hemi Ram properly geared and posi'd would have much trouble running 15's.

Only speculation on my part, tho. I'd love to see some real world 1/4 mile times.

As for the T.B.'s, of course the TB by itself isn't going to realize much in the way of gains, but I could also see a stocker holding back other mods like you said.

Right on Steve!

Like you I have street raced for years with a 1981 trans am with a nicely built 350 chevy implant.

That vehicle is long since gone and I await my 03 R/T CC coming soon.

A few of us like you Steve know the real world out there on the street racing scene or the track. I stick with the street scene as there are no close local tracks to Toronto.

Bottom lines guys TELL THE TRUTH THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH. If your vehicle runs slower than expected oh well, slip a few more dollars under the hood until you run where you would like to time wise. But exagerating your times simply does nothing as you are simply fooling yourself. Sooner or later you will run someone who can back up his claims and your gig is up.

Like Steve said.. lets get along in here and quit ragging on everyone that runs slow.. be it a 4.7 or R/T or Hemi. This board should be a mutual forum for all of us to help our fellow Dodge's out there perform as well as we all can within each of our own budget limits.

Remember if we didn't like our Dodge why are we in here to begin with?

Black R/T - The ride I soaked most of my time and money into was a 80 Monte Carlo this was about 12-13 years ago,350CI stroked to 383CI 3speed TH400 etc, etc, etc.Even had a 250 horse NOS plate system.Worked the rigs then had lots of $$$.Never once took it to the track though!Lots of kills on the street, but thats when I was young and stupid.Don't know how fast it was all I knew was to hold tight when I had the balls to turn the bottle on!Oh try and remember to shut the arming switch off when not in use yeeek! Anyways hope you enjoy your 03 R/T, I love mine.Do me a favour and let me know how your tranny is after a few miles ,mine seems soft compared to the 01 R/T my wife just took over,I just might trade her( If she lets me)

Steve you are wrong. You only get 0-1 HP gain from changing your throttle body. 3-4 is way too much.

Black R?T -- Sounds simular ,but I only had a 2800 stall and a set of 3:73 gears, and some fat BFG's.Awesome time !! I sure miss those days. So did you load it up (the R/T)? I got everything but the Stampede package,Overhead crap and leather.Really enjoy the 4 wheel ABS Discs though way better than the 01, the rims are nicer in chrome aswell as the lack of badging.Take it easy.

I saw, with my own eyes, a 2003 RC Hemi Ram run a 14.8 at Houston Raceway park last weekend, Sunday March 30th. On the same night at the same track, I also saw a QC Hemi Ram run a 15.2 ET. Both were completely stock.

I know I was surprised, especially by the QC, but I saw it - live and in person.

And on the TB comment. Correct - a bigger TB alone will not make much difference. It has to be a part of the bigger picture. I know when I did my mods, my TB was late getting here, so I threw the stocker on until the F&B 52mm arrived. I drove it for just under a week with the stocker, then the F&B arrived. I installed it and could tell a moderate difference from the stocker. Not night and day 100shot of nitrous difference, but it was an improvement.

And lastly - I agree about the goobers who get on here and use fake names and post BS and childish flames. This site needs to go to some sort of mandatory registration to be able to post. That way only legit people can post, trolls can be banned, and do away with the crud.

I was at an air show and saw this Ram with a JET ENGINE on the back. I am not sure how that would do for the 1/4 mile times, but 1/2 way up the runway it was MOVING. The only problem is now my son (8 years old) wants me to put a jet engine on my quad cab. I don't have that type of money.

its about time someone said that...timeslips are the only proof of times...and why in the hell would i put a small block chevy in my dakota, when i can just put a small block chrysler in there? you can get just as much performance out of a small block MOPAR than from a chevy, keep racing your beretta and leave MOPAR fans alone with your chevy talk

i say chevy power because of the time and time again proof of its durability and performance.the never ending list of parts available to build any combination of powerplant you desire is definately something to consider.and as for ease of creating power out of a small block MOPAR,show me a dak runnung in the 11's or even 12's and then you'll be showing me a guy who spent twice as much money as us chevy people.now don't get me wrong i love my dakota, but only for its styling.most people on this site are complaining about performance issues of their trucks.simply put, dodge when you want to look good ,chevy when you want to feel good

"Don't even bother with the throttle body it is a waste of time and money"????

Your opinion of reworked TB's not making a difference is by far the stupidest thing I've read on this site.

Let me guess, you're wondering why your 15HP cat-back and your 15HP intake, with your 10HP TB spacer and 25HP module did'nt put you in the 11's??

You must be the type of guy that is big into numbers... "I have x amount of HP, how much do you have?"

The biggest gain from a TB upgrade in conjunction with the other usual bolt-on mods is driveability and THROTTLE RESPONSE.... not making the truck a drag car.

Before you give your opinion on matters you have no experience with, you had better get your butt in a truck with the mod you're reviewing and at least test it for yourself.

And who ever "THEY" are that say a TB is not worth it, I would'nt let check my tire psi. You should hang with different "THEY'S".

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but it should be on experience and not here say.

And yes I have a Fastman TB and many other bolt on mods that make driving a lot more fun.... And no, I won't guess how much HP I'm making.
