Subject: Oil Leak Help IP: Logged
Message: I have a leak that seems to be coming from the top back of intake or that general area and i have just changed my intake gaskets a week ago. There is a nipple with electrical plug on the back passenger side of motor, it looks like it would have something to do with oil possibly sending unit? can i seal it with teflon paste. Any ideas on what else to look for because this is getting frustrating. It leaks a spot the size of a quarter every couple days(not really a leak it is more like seepage) thanks for any help

Message: there are a few possibilities from where it can be coming from. that electircal nipple you are talking about it the oil pressure sending unit. it can leak from there or it can be coming from the distributor housing at the base. i have seen a few leak from there or you new intake gaskets could be leaking. there is a gasket you can by from the local dodge parts house and you can seal the sending unit with teflon if you want. hope this helps

Message: The sensor is indeed the oil pressure sensor. Mine was leaking badly. The way to tell is to unplug the connector on top of it. If the connection is full of oil, you know where the leak is. The good news is it's easy to change. The bad news is you need a special tool. You need a socket deep enough to go over the sensor. I got mine at NAPA. Buy the new sensor (there are three diferent types so you need to know what yours looks like), then find the socket that fits. The sensor I bought already had thread sealant on the threads. Don't over tighten it. I hosed mine off at the car wash first with the high presure spray to make the job a little easier.

Message: I picked one up at the local dodge dealer for $32 and put it on last night. I just used a real short wrench to remove and replace but it wasnt easy.
