Subject: Powerdyne-SC IP: Logged Message: I am considering a Sc for my 99' V-6. Cost?, thoughs? suggestions? where to buy?. No pain No power |
Bernd GenIII 1/18/2001 08:47:32 | RE: Powerdyne-SC IP: Logged Message: Cost: $2200 http://www.worldwideperformanceparts.com As for the installation, same as a V8 with the exception of having to cut the Powerdyne Intake Tbe by approximately 2" shorter to fit the V6. Suggestions: Get an aftermarket Airhat since the factory ones leak under boost (Not required initially though.) V8 throttle body or Flometrics 48mm V6 TB. Headers and a good Cat-Back system. 180 Degree T'Stat and Super Unleaded. I have had no problems with mine since day-one and have also designed a MAP/IAT adjustment box for taking care of the part throttle/part boost adjustments. Bernd D. Tank GenIII 1/18/2001 11:38:20 | RE: Powerdyne-SC IP: Logged Message: Bernd, What type of RWHP are we talking about?? I have the gibson duals and K&N. BTW, will my JetII have to go if i get the SC. No pain No power |
Bernd GenIII 1/18/2001 12:32:28 | RE: Powerdyne-SC IP: Logged Message: Unfortunately, yes. The Jet-II causes pinging problems due to the agressive timing curve. Plus, the Jet-II (or most other "chips") are configured for a stock engine. Once you start changing out the stock parts, the chips may not work as they were designed to. (Operating Environment has now changed) RWHP: I've got 209HP/277TQ (Add 20% for driveline loss and you've got 250HP and 330TQ - That's V8 Country!) :) Keep in mind that the factory ratings are around 135-140RWHP, you've got yourself about a 50% increase at the rear wheels with the modified TB, Headers, and S/C. chris GenIII 1/18/2001 14:36:00 | RE: Powerdyne-SC IP: Logged Message: So, if the Jet-II is designed for stock configuration and obviously the stock chip does the same, what do you use with the SC?? Chris DeCrease 97 Dak 3.9 Sport 5-sp 3"Body Lift 33"BFG TA ko's |

Bernd GenIII 1/19/2001 08:54:58 | RE: Powerdyne-SC IP: Logged Message: Just thought i'd pass this along: --------------------------------- From: manganos@home.com Hey group. I am selling my Powerdyne Supercharger. It fits all Ram/Dakota with the 318 5.2 and the 360 5.9. It has only been used with the 6# pulley. I also have the MSD Boost Timing Master to go with it if you choose. The MSD BTM can pull timing as the boost increases so no detonation will occur. The Powerdyne comes with: Fuel Managment Unit, Aux. Fuel Pump, all brackets, belts ( I have on extra brand new belt as well as a backup) and wiring. There is no need to drill into the oilpan for this supercharger as it is self lubed. Low sound, virtually no upkeep. I'm selling/trading my truck so I have no need for it. I will be taking it off this coming up weekend. I'm asking $1800 OBO and that includes the MSD BTM. -------------------------------- Respond to the seller listed above...it's an excellent deal, especially for the V6'ers out there. ;) Bernd D. Bernd GenIII 1/19/2001 23:09:40 | RE: Powerdyne-SC IP: Logged Message: The KB S/C is a nice piece but does require more work and knowledge on the actual installation of the S/C. I've seen posts which complain about their "Optimizer" and others that have had excellent results. Personally, i've seen an R/T with a KB system at last years Houston Show (Ron Merx) and I wasn't impressed with the performance of the vehicle with the KB S/C. There are many Powerdyne folks running just as fast for about $2000 less money. Again, that's a personal opinion and from the posts of others running them. Bernd D. Allen T. Unregistered 1/20/2001 02:24:12 | RE: Powerdyne-SC IP: Logged Message: Thanks for your thoughts. The Powerdyne sounds like a good buy. I always thought that the twin screw type spooled up faster than the centrifugal type, and therefore delivered more low end power. I could be mistaken. I also love the whine of the twin screw type. Does the Powerdyne make similar noise? Can the Powerdyne be installed by someone who is handy with tools at home? |
Bernd GenIII 1/20/2001 09:51:29 | RE: Powerdyne-SC IP: Logged Message: The Roots blowers do make more power on the bottom end. But...the KB isn't a "Roots Style" blower...Autorotor (of Sweden) makes the blower: http://www.opconab.com/autorotor (Or, for those who can't read Swedish...http://www.kenne-bell.com/blower_specs.asp). Centrifugal blowers make their power gradually as RPM's increse (like a Turbo)...the KB (and other screw-type) make their power right out of the hole. The KB is fairly quiet as compared to the centrifugal blowers but the Powerdyne also uses a belt drive (rather than gear driven) and is much quieter than a Vortech or Paxton (or AT at that). The Powerdyne takes about 4 hours for the average person at home...with basic hand tools and a drill (holes in frame for the aux. fuel pump). Take your time with the installation to make sure everything looks right (and fits) and you'll be done in one Saturday. ;) Bernd D. Ratsch 1997 Dodge Dakota SLT Supercharged w/Nitrous |
