Subject: Access Cover pro's & con's IP: Logged
Message: i currently have a Pace Edwards Roll Top Cover, and am not fully satisfied with it. it is only 80% watertight and the canister it rolls up into clogs easy adding to water leakage, and takes up room in my small QC bed. i am interested in the access cover. i like the smooth look of it, but is it a watertight cover? for a $400+ cover i would expect it to keep out the water. if any owners of the access cover could list pro's and con's i would appreciate it. thankyou

Message: I bought an Access cover this fall and have
been really happy with it.
Pros:
-looks good
-easily adjustable (tension)
-works really well, even in the cold and snow
-quickly rolls and un-rolls
-easy install
-You don't have to drop the tailgate to operate
the cover
-doesn't take up bed space, which is really
important with the Quad.
Cons:
-sticks up above the bed rails about 1.5"
-probably about 90% water proof, I get a small
bit of water when I run through the wash but I
have a bed liner so my stuff stays dry. The
sides of the cover are sealed up really well,
the water gets in underneath the front edge of
the cover. You could easily add some weather
stripping if you wanted.
-pricey for a vinyl cover, although IMHO it's
easily the nicest soft tonneau made (I got
mine from web4jnj.com, they had the best
price, hands down)
-not as secure as a rolling cover or lid
Overall, I really like it. It keeps my stuff dry, is
easy to use, allows me to haul my Blaster ATV
around and looks good.
Hope this helps,
Lemmers

Message: My thoughts exactly.
I purchased an Access cover after much deliberation.
The bed is just too short for a roll top cover and too shallow for a fiberglass cover.
My cover keeps about 95 percent of the water out. After periods of long rains or the car wash I have some water in the grooves of my bedliner. As long as you're not keeping work files back there you'll be fine.

Message: I'm happy with my Extang tonno on my 03 QC. I'm not sure how dry it keeps things back there, its too cold to worry about that right now.
I stayed away from the roll-top because I too need all the bed space to haul the ATV around.
