Message: I justy replaced the shocks on my 01 Dakota Quad Cab b/c the dealership and local shop said that was the problem with my tire wear problem. The front tires were wearing irregularly on inside and out but not in the middle. Then tonight I went on line and found out there is a recall on the front ball joints of my truck. Did the shop rip me off for the price of new shocks?

Message: No I wasn't running them underinflated and when i rotated the tires the proble continued on the front. The only new thing was I had just put on BFG all Terrain tires and at 2000 miles on the new tires the wearing was very evident. So now I am replacing the ball joints ASAP. JUst a little pissed if I didnt need shocks, but for offroading the KYB's are better then the stock shocks.

Message: My 2001 Dakota makes a pretty bad clunking noise when I'm in a reversed turn. It gets worse when I go back into drive. I thought it might be the transmission. There wasn't any big problem there. I recently went to go get my alignment done and the guy refused to do it until I got my ball joints fixed. I've heard something about a ball-joint recall. Do you think I'm looking at two different problems?

Message: My 2001 Dakota quad cab 4x4 goes in in the morning for new ball joints. The dealership said sorry they hadn't mailed me a recall notice and that they would fix the prob ASAP. If I was you I would go online to the dodge website and check your recall, if you havent already. The clunking noise sounds like something besides the ball joints. I had a buddy that had his drive shaft making the clunking noise so be sure check that. His was so loose the auto shop guy was scared we were even driving and dodge fixed the prob for free.

Message: you can go to dodge.com and look up recalls usings the last digits of your vin. or go to your local dealer to see if they'll do it for you. if you've got some miles on it it's probably the balljoints.
