Subject: hEATER CORE IP: Logged
Message: I just finished replacing the core. A royal pain. i got an after market core from Advance Auto Parts. It had me scared because this core is almost twice as thick as the OEM core. I had to cut an alignment tab off the bottom of the heater box but it does fit. There is no aluminum in this core. There is one nut on the firewall right behing the transmission dipstick. The only way to get it out is with an open end wrench about one nut face at at time, Takes forever. Then you have to put it back on. I finally used a glob of wheel bearing grease to stick the nut to the end of my finger, then slipped the nut over the stud and wiped it off of my finger so that it stuck to the stud then fiddled with it until the nut started. I will definitely not purchase another Dodge unless they do something about this horrid situation.

Message: Yes it is, and I didn't have the equipment or experience to do it myself, so I had to go to a repair shop. Please check on the " heater core puked" on this page and read the five pages. As you had no year or model listed you can better understand the problems of your year and why Dodge's are not now our first choice for another vehicle. As I have now done some web research it seems that no vehicle is with out problems. So I hope that this helps you. Ernie
