Just bought an '02 Dakota with 3.9 v6. Only had 15K when I bought it in July. I'm only up to 18K and the amount of brake dust is incredible (or ridiculous?). This is my first truck and haven't seen much on this on this forum. Should I assume it's just the junk stock pads and get rid of them ASAP? Any suggestions on a next set? Thanks.

There's nothing you can really do about brake dust... every time I clean my rims (00 cc 4x4) they get grey and dirty within a few days! It's espically bad when it RAINS!
On my other dak, I had hawk HPS pads and powerslot rotors. there was still dust, but not near as much as stock. I have also seen brake shields, that mount between your brake disc and the rim. its just a round piece of thin metal.. However, I never have seen them in our lug pattern.....

Thanks Dan. I guess I'll try the pads you mentioned.
I assume I should be able to find them online with a Google search?

They don't have to be that brand. Any good ceramic pad will be low dusting.

The hawk pads aren't ceramic, they are "Ferro Carbon" pads. they are supposed to be easier on the rotors, and produce low dust.
I just had experience with the hawk pads/powerslot rotors, I'm not trying to push them or anything.

Sorry Daffy, not trying to say that. Just wanted the guy to know what options he had for a lower dusting brake pad. I have heard a lot of good things about the Hawk pads, but I have had good experience with other ceramic pads also.

Guys, in looking around the websites, I find Raybestos Quiet Stop pads (pretty high $50+), but would spend it if they're a quality pad. They're listed as ceramic. But I see other info that suggests that ceramics wouldn't be a good match with the stock rotors. Any thoughts? Thanks again.
