Subject: 92 Dak lurches in 1st gear IP: Logged
Message: Anyone know what could cause my Dakota in 1st gear to lurch forward with what feels like every rotation of the dr shaft?!? This happens only from a dead stop, in 1st but not 2,3,4,5 or Rev (it's a manual 5-speed, V6 LE.)
Also, if I gently rev the engine as I let out the clutch in 1st, the gearshift knob actually moves to the right about 6-8 inches as the truck is violently lurching forward!!! This is really weird! Has this happened to anyone else? any suggestions?

Message: Oh, har dee har!
I found the problem (in the small chance that ANYONE is interested)-- broken motor mounts! It seems the entire engine, clutch, and transmission would lift themselves up by the torque of the driveshaft about 2 inches. Of course, I need a new clutch, but now that I replaced the mounts, the ride is a lot smoother!
