Message: dude...just get a wire harness and is should tell u everthing u need to install it, if i am not mistaken all the wires are color coded so u just have to splice them into the wire harnes and your set.and if it doesnt try looking in your manual.

Message: Get a wiring harness. Even Wal-Mart sells them. Last thing you want to do is go hacking of the factory plug!

Message: Check out this site for the error code descriptions...

The stock systems have a PCI cable connected to them. If you removed the stock radio, it might have registered that something was faulty in your stereo system.
I just changed out my head unit with a new Sony unit which obviously doesn't have the PCI connection to the computer...I haven't checked to see if any error codes have popped up yet.

Message: Guys... Get a wire hardness, Simple ask for wire hardness for 97 dodge dakota *whatever the year is and the make too* and then they ll pull out one that is right for you!... then you just wire the colors to the colors... remember the stripped line represents the negative or ground matter. so check the booklet that comes with wire hardness and it ll help you out what you need to do... If you still dont get it... Send your car in the shop and pay them to do it for you... Choice is yours... Also dont forget if the radio still doesnt work... its the black wire that the radio has to be directly grounded to the metal part of the car *you ll see the metal area in the dash panel after taken the radio out...* thats all folks, and i wont be back here. and you all are welcome for my reply... laterz
