Subject: x-cab speakers IP: Logged
Message: I want to keep my system mild, and not take up space or storage. Has anyone put 8" speakers inplace of the 6.5" in the x-cab holes on a 97. Or a decent 6.5" that puts off quite a bit of bass for its size?? HA. But thanks the reading/posting.

Message: Yes, it has been done.
Just seal up the chamber and fabricate the speaker hole to fit the 8. I will probably try this in the near future, I have a pair of coustic 8s sitting on a shelf.

Message: Free air subs will work but they will not sound good if you vent them back into the cab. That setup would only sound good if you seal off the sub chamber from the cab, like if you were using the back wall of the cab or something. So you still need to make an enclosure for that subwoofer. It may sound O.K. but don't expect great sounding bass.

Message: 8s or 6.5s??? No amp you will not get much from either one, however you may try and find an 8 with a very small magnet (senstive) and that might be o.k.
