Subject: tweeter placement IP: Logged
Message: i just bought a new pair of RF components to put in my 99 dak. I was looking for a good place to put the tweeters and it hit me that since i dont have power windows, that the little cut out where i think the controls for that would go would be a great place to put them. The plastic peice is angled almost directly toward the driver and passengers head, and since this peice pops off relatively easily it would be an easy install. Any thoughts on this, has anyone done this. Thanks.

Message: I would run some sort of heavy resistor in-line with the tweeters for that location. The highs may be too overpowering without them. Unless you like bleeding ears. ; )
Good luck.

Message: Try mounting them at the base of the a-pillar, where the pillar and the dash meet. It wouldn't be that bad having them in the door though. Most of them I have heard were in kick panels, and it's only a couple feet difference. If it hurts your ears just turn it down :D

Message: Put them as close to the front door speakers as possible. Too much seperation between the mids and the tweets won't sound good. The higher the frequency output, the more directional the sounds becomes. Therefore, you want the mids and tweets as close as possible.

Message: i dunno about that, since i installed my tweeters in the the stock location, which is the top corners where the mirrors are (about chest level). the mids are where the regular stock speakers are (down by your feet) they sound great to me, however it can also depend on your tweeters and how "high" they sound. i have some SONY ES components.

Message: i should also say that i have a thunderform to even out the highs with that deep bass. with the sub amp turned off, the tweeters sound ALOT louder. almost annoyingly high.
