Message: Just hope to help those who are curious about the power of their systems. First of all a system can not put out more than it is fused for. Example 10amp fuse multiplied by the 14.4volts of a running vehical equals 144watts at the point it would blow a fuse. Second if you want to know your peak power you can take your voltage across you positive and negative speaker wires and devide that by your impedance (ohms)to get your amperes then take your amperes multiplied by your volts to get your watts. Example 8volts divided by 4ohms equals 2amperes. 8volts multiplied by 2amperes equals 16watts.

Message: I have a 01 Dakota quad cab and my factory radio has blown. I have pulled out 50 stock radios from different dodges and none of the hookups are the same. Well the last one I carried to a radio shop and they told me that I can not get that one installed because of the Infinity system put in my truck. The only way I can change radios is to either get an aftermarket or find a stock that had the infinity system put in. I was just wondering what make and models came with the infinity system. Can someone help me please.
Thanks,
Karen

Message: I'm not sure if it gets as specific as particular models, Karen. I think it was more a case that it was an available option. It could have come stock on some models I guess, I'm not Dakota expert. : ) My '98 quad cab has the Infinity System in it. The Infinity Systems are pre-amplified which is likely why you are having problems with different wiring. Pesonally, I would just go with a decent aftermarket.

Message: Sound is a personal preference so upgrading audio components goes hand in hand. Obviously you aren't happy with the sound though. Persoanlly, I NEVER leave stock in my vehicle(s). It's always one of the first things I do. If you're happy with the stock stereo, try upgrading your speakers. You have to ask yourself where the sound quality is falling short thought. Are you not getting enough bass? Not enough hi's coming out of your tweeters? Distortion? Just like a doctor, you need to address the symptoms before making a recommendation to fix it.
