Subject: 2 10" MTX 8000 subs good? IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering if these subs sound good in our Dakota Club Cabs. I haven't heard these subs yet. I used to have a 12" L7 and it SLAMMED! I'm thinking of either getting 2 10" L7's or the 2 10" MTX 8000's and installing a custom box and still be able to use atleast 1 rear seat. I'll be using an MTX 500D to power the subs.

Message: I guarantee you that two MTX 8000's is a step down from Solobarics. They just won't get as loud.
I suggest you put one 15" L7 in a ported box.
What many people fail to realize is that 1 15" will be louder than two tens of the same model subwoofer. The cone area on a 15" is more than double a 10" sub.
Plus, it will save money and space.

Message: the 2 10" MTX8000 setup is very nice in a dakota, not that loud but its nice. its not earcracking bass like some cars. but its surprising for a dakota.

Message: the 8000's pound but 500d is not enough power for both if thats the effect you want. to get real power use 1 for each speaker

Message: It all depends on wether youre gonna get the new MTX or the old ones. The ones with the shiny silver cones are new, and theyre crap compared to the ond ones. I work at Circuit City and the new ones just arent like the old flat silver colored ones. Id go with the Alpine R series, they handle just as much and will hit hard and sound better on that 500d. BTW, 2 8000 10's and a 500d was my first system. It still hit pretty good.
