Message: well, what kind of bass do you like, boomy(12's) or punchy(10's)? 10's can be boomy and sound really good if they're a good brand. i have two tens and they're plenty good for me, and i listen to a little of everything too. 12's can be awesome too though. i guess it just depends on what you like. any particular brand we talkin about here? BTW, i've heard subs sound crappy on an amp that wasn't enough for them and then give them the power they need and they slam. so make sure you get an amp that can give them good power. might cost a little more but it's worth it.

Message: why are you getting two? are you more interested in how they look or how they sound? for reasonable listening levels and ballanced (sort of) Sound Quality with what i am assuming to be either factory speakers or un-amped aftermarket speakers, a single 10" in a well made sealed or (slightly louder) ported box should be fine. i'd look for one around 250wRMS. more subs / bigger subs does not mean it will sound better or louder. the difference in 10" and 12" subs is not very much. i would say 97% of people wouldnt know the difference if they didnt know what was in the trunk (or back seat as the case may be).

Message: Size is largely irrelevant. Making sure the enclosure's the right size for the woofer is far more important for sound quality.
