Subject: Which amp should I get? IP: Logged
Message: I just bought two 12" Phoenix Gold Octane ZR's. They handle 350 watts RMS a piece. What saize amp should I go with? 500, 600, or a 700 watt amp? I don't know anybody that makes a 700 watt amp, but if anybody knows of someone give me some feedback.

Message: go w 1000 you should never underpower subs. underpowering leads to clipping which leads to blown woofers.
what ohms are they? if your worried about overpowering them you could always do a 1000 watt amp and just dont run it at its full capacity ie/ 1000w/4 ohms run it at 8 and yould get around 750 or so

Message: i'm a PG dealer.....
we run a pair in the sound room off an Ample Audio 226x(350rms. seems slightly underrated)....any more amp on them and they get REALLY slappy and push the edge of complete meltdown.....they're good budget subs, but they will never take 1Krms....

Message: So you would consider my subs "budget subs"...Crap! The dude at the local sounds place said these were really hard hitting subs. I knew I should have gone with the Alpine S's...Oh well. But thanks for the help on the amp, I think that is what I'll go with.
