Anyone have any good instructions on how the alternator wire is replaced/upgraded to 4 gauge?

Can I just add another set of wires (+ & -) on top of the pre-existing factory wires, or do I need to actually replace the wires completely??

Let's give this a try. I just upgraded all my wire under the hood. First disconnet the negative on the battery. Next on the back of your alternator, the red power wire is connected. Disconnect the red wire, and follow it over to the fuse box. There should be two wires connect at the same point. One enters from the alternator and the other is a jumper to the positive side of the battery. Replace the wire from your alternator to the fuse box with 2 or 4 gauge. And then connect a short jumper wire 2 or 4 gauge to the battery. After replacing these wires you need to do the same thing with the negative wires. Upgrade the negative wire from the battery to the frame. Next you need to upgrade the negative wire to the engine block. The engine block wire is located on the battery side of the engine towards the bottom of the engine block. I think that's it. You will need to upgrade the positive and negative battery connections for this to work. Check out Parts Express, or your local car stereo place. Don't forget to cover the wires with some flex loom to protect the wires. Good Luck.
