Subject: Back Seat Of Quad Cab IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 Quad Cab Dakota and I was wondering if I would be able to put in bucket seats in the back instead of the bench. Cause I want to put in four 12" subs in the middle and put my amps under the other two seats in the back. So can I replace the back bench seat for bucket seats? I will only do it if its legal. If there is no possable way then I will take the back rigth out.

Even after putting buckets in I doubt you'll have room for FOUR 12"s - the box would have to be about 1/2 the height of the cab I'd guess :o

Message: You need to search the other forums here. Someone did that as I recall. It looked pretty good, but required some fabrication of the brackets and such. He'd also recovered the seats in leather.
I also agree with JMII though. Airspace would be tight, and fitting 12s in the space between the stock buckets is also pretty tight.
Do your measuring and calculating and see what you think...

Message: Yeah, four 12's would take a LOT of space. You would have the rear of the truck full of speaker boxes WITHOUT any room for seats at all LOL!
I like to be loud too. But I ALSO needed to maintain operation of my rear seats for our kids and supplies..
I installed a single Rockford Fozgate HE 10 into a 1 cubic foot box and shoe horned it in behind the passenger side rear seat. I had to move the right rear seat forward by 1 1/2 inches to have room. This was done with some minor drilling and welding.
When you look into the back of my truck, you can not see the sub or tell the seat was modded unless you really look for it.
I shoved my sub behind this seat. I had to weld extensions to the top clips and move the seat mounts forward on the bottom. I also modded the hooks on the back of both rear seats so you can now fold up the bottom seat part way and then unhook and fold down the rear of the seat as shown above to access the sub and amp that is behind the left seat.
This is how the seat now looks. It is pretty damn loud for a single 10 inch. It is a HE series which has longer excusion than standard subs.
I MAY go ape-sh*t and attempt to build another box to the same size but install two 10 inch subs side by side. Experimenting with extra insulation and port changes I MAY get them to sound ok in that size of a box.
Hope that helps. All of my mods I have done are on my site here My Projects
