Does it work everywhere?
I like the un sensored, commercial free music from Direct TV so that would be great in the truck too!
The only thing I'd use the tuner for would be for the morning show here on 98KUPD.
Other than that commercials suck. At least 98kupd (Phoenix, AZ) plays mostly un sensored music. Swear words and all. Sh8t, fukk, etc.

Message: I believe that the going rate is 12.99 / month for sirrius and 9.99 / month for XM. I am considering the XM to go with my alpine hu, but I'd rather spend the money for the little black box you need to receive it on some new amps first.

Message: That 12.99 per month is kinda steep. I don't even pay that for web hosting!
But I may eventually get something like that. LOve the commercial free un sensored music.
Does anyone know of a head unit that has XM and will still play mp3's?
All my head units play mp3's and I wont give that up to have XM and a standard CD player.

Message: xm is 9.99 for about 100 channels. Not all are commercial free though. If you want the play boy channel thats an extra 2 bucks. It works great pretty much anywhere. The only place i've had trouble is in some parts of manhatten. I have a sony head unit that plays MD's. I'm not a fan of the crappy mp3 sound.

Message: Well mp3's if ripped at like 192K from your own CD's will sound great. So do some downloaded ones if they were ripped at good rates from a CD.
But then what you download from some dumba$$ on the internet may be another story. I've downloaded mp3's that were encoded at high rates, but some idiot probably took a low quality one and re encoded it at a higher rate like a dumba$$. I hate that!
Oh, the Car Audio salesman told me today that my head unit had the input for the XM. Maybe that's what that funny connector is.

Message: I have the Alpine 9815 and the Mp3's sound awsome in the truck. I'm redoing all my cd's in Mp3 format so I don't have to carry as many around and avoid damage and theft.
